This was a big week for my daughter, particularly Thursday. She had her first dental experience and she did really well. She met Mr. Thirsty, that would be the instrument that sucks all of the saliva out of your mouth; she got to wear the sunglasses that Cinderella left behind at her last checkup while they shined the big bright light in her face; she learned all about sugar bugs and especially loved her new floss, Arial toothbrush and blue sparkly big girl toothpaste. They told her she was the best 4 year old they've ever had. She had a great time and wasn't one bit scared.
Afterwards, we went to McDonalds and this little boy got about 1/3 of the way thru the net tunnel that connects the slides and decided he was not going to be able to go any further...I think he must've looked down. His parents were trying to talk him thru it and another lady had her child go up there and try to get him down and I saw that they just weren't having any luck and the poor little guy was really scared. I told my daughter he was stuck and a little afraid, so she went up there and tried to talk him thru it. That didn't work so she gently grabbed his arm and pulled him thru. She's pretty persuasive....her cuteness must have an affect on more than just her daddy and me.
Later, we went to her doctor for her 4 year check up. She had her vision and her hearing checked, all good-yea, and they commented what a bright child she's always been. I'm so proud of my angel.

Had a nice relaxing day with my family at the lake and my daughter got in the lake water for the first time and loved it. Thank goodness Daddy could handle the cold water, because I could barely handle it touching my feet. We were supposed to go out on my step-dad's boat, but we weren't sure if the storms were coming in or not. That's okay, it was just nice to relax in what turned out to be a beautiful day with my family and good food. I'm so proud of my sister for taking her health seriously. She was diagnosed with diabetes in December and has been eating very healthy and following what I consider to be a very strict diet...she's also lost 46 pounds since December...
We've gone to the public pools a few times this year and her progress is much better than last year. She's going under, jumping off the side and treading water...all with a life jacket on.
I can't wait for her to get taller...I think she's got a real sense of adventure. We had a blast at a carnival this year letting her ride every ride she was tall enough to ride. I had a blast with her on a roller coaster and made her sit in the front seat with me...we laughed the entire time:) Great fun...early spring 2009.
Yesterday, my 4 year old daughter and I went to a pool with a toddler area. It had a great water slide and the depth of the water ranged from 0-3 feet, which was perfect. I have been a little protective of her in the water, so if she's later than some, it's only my fault. This was the first time I've put her in water, more than 1 1/2 feet, without a life jacket on. She just finally understood how to breathe under water and swam for hours. She blew bubbles and opened her eyes under water as well. I think we just need to work on her form a little now....at some points, I laughed so hard I cried. I sure wish some of my family members could've been there to see this. It was truly a great day and I was one proud Mama:)
The more I get to know my child, the more I think I've done an alright job so far. I was a little worried at times, but she's really pretty special. Thank you God for such a beautiful blessing!
My 4 year old's teacher was blown away in class today to find out she can already do some addition and subtraction. What can I say, I work with her. Sometimes we get ready by subtraction....ie...ok we have 5 things to do, let's get to the big "0"....and we just take away a finger for each task.
Yea, my 4 year old will be starting a ballet/tap class on August 15th. I bought some leotards and tutus today and when she tried them on, she wanted to call her Mimi to tell her how beautiful she looked in them.
My daughter started Tap and Ballet class yesterday and she did great. It was very exciting that she also had a friend from school in the class. Later that day, we went swimming at a water park and her Mimi and Nana got to witness that she can swim underwater....she's been doing that for about a month now, but I finally got pics and videos yesterday. Great day-one for the books:)
I went to Mardel today and bought all kinds of teaching aids for my child and a couple of cds for me. Great store. My daughter and I focused on making her chore chart and a behavior chart; we read the first story in her new children's bible; worked on rhyming words; addition tables; info on the state of Texas; the "o'clock cards" which she mastered and started to work on the ":30s" cards for telling time. Lots of learning in my household this evening. It's crunch time...only one year before kindergarten.
My daughter was the only one in the "Large Group" service who'd memorized her Bible verse...."This is love for God, to obey his commands."
Sundays are a really had day for my husband at work. He wanted to go to church with us before he went on to work his 14 hour shift, so he went in at 6:00 am to place an order and came back in time to go to church with us:) He finally got to see our pastor speak; every other time he's visited, there's been a guest speaker. Jeff Johnson was our worship leader today...sings "Glorious Day" and was an early contestant on American Idol.
